Community involvement via BeaconCares is an important part of Beacon's culture, and during Q2 2026, we continued to give back with a focus on Helping Four-Legged Friends. This quarter, our team spent time helping maintain the grounds at Horsepower Therapeutic Learning Center, supporting Guilford County Animal Services, and continuing our Adopt-A-Highway commitment along Thatcher Road.

For several years now, Beacon has been visiting our neighbors in High Point, NC, at Horsepower Therapeutic Learning Center. Horsepower empowers children and adults with physical, intellectual, and emotional disabilities through equine-assisted services and therapeutic horseback riding programs.
To support their mission, we volunteer each spring to clean up around the property. This year, the team weeded, cleared debris from wooded trails, and swept rocks and sticks from the pastures to help create a safe and welcoming environment for both horses and their riders.
After the cleanup efforts were complete, the team had the opportunity to meet the horses and learn more about the important role each one plays in the Horsepower experience.
It’s always a delight to visit Horsepower and see firsthand its amazing impact on our community, and we’re proud to help make the grounds a safe and welcoming space for everyone year after year.
In June, the Beacon team returned to Guilford County Animal Services (GCAS), which provides shelter, care, and adoption assistance for animals throughout the county with the ultimate goal of connecting pets with loving, forever homes.
Upon arrival, the team learned that not one, but two outdoor projects needed immediate attention: reorganizing a storage container and cleaning the play yards used during adoption visits. Despite the heat and humidity, volunteers quickly divided into teams and knocked out both tasks, transforming the spaces in just a few hours.
After finishing up outside, Beacon volunteers hung out for enrichment with kittens, senior dogs, and bunnies. Spending time with furry friends was a lovely reward after the clean-up efforts, and dedicated play and interaction are always so meaningful to the animals waiting on adoption.
We look forward to visiting GCAS each year to soak up some sunshine and enjoy quality time with its sweet four-legged residents.

We continued our Adopt-A-Highway efforts along Thatcher Road during Q2 with monthly outings, and to date, we’ve collected dozens of bags and an entire yard sale’s worth of large items for trash pickup. Through regular clean-up events, Beacon helps maintain the area immediately around our Greensboro office for everyone who lives, works, and travels through our neighborhood.
Thatcher Road gets more traffic than you’d think, with close proximity to I-40 and West Market Street, one of Greensboro’s main thoroughfares. And with temperatures rising and more folks spending time outside, it’s more important than ever to keep the area around our office safe and tidy. How many bags of trash will Beacon gather over the course of the year? Stay tuned for the next quarterly update!
Thank you to all of the team members who volunteered their time during Q2. Whether caring for community spaces or helping animals in need, your efforts continue to make a meaningful difference.
We can’t wait for more opportunities to get active in the community during the second half of the year through our next BeaconCares initiative: Helping Our Neighbors!
