The Carter Center

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter on peacemaking initiative

Project Goals

A New Website for President Carter's Human Rights Organizations

The Carter Center was looking to improve functionality within their existing site, while creating a modern and visually engaging user experience that emphasized The Carter Center’s core principles. The new website utilizes crisp imagery and intuitive navigation to attract a new generation of volunteers and donors to emphasize peaceful conflict resolution, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health worldwide.

Beginning in August 2015, Beacon and The Carter Center worked together to design, develop, and test the new site – in addition to migrating nearly 4,000 pages of content into the newly integrated content management system. The Carter Center also worked closely with Beacon’s Digital Marketing Services team to enhance their Google Analytics capabilities to include the use of Google Tag Manager, cross-domain tracking and  cross-device user ID features in order to better captures useful user data. The ability to have everything from design to analytics handled by a single vendor was a huge draw for The Carter Center and made for a smooth transition during the 10-month process to create their new web home.

Outcomes Achieved

  • Improved user experience through more intuitive navigation and homepage and layout updates.
  • Site migrated from from Nimbus to Cascade server, allowing easier updates.
  • Responsive templates designed for easy management of website content.
