GSO: Google Selects Beacon

September 2007

Beacon is very happy to announce that it is now officially a Google Partner, being named as a Google Analytics Authorized Consultant. The company was notified of their selection early last month, but had to delay the official announcement until Google’s legal department approved the agreement. “This is an important relationship for Beacon with regard to Search Engine Marketing. I expect this relationship to not only strengthen our credibility as a company, but also help attract clients that want comprehensive web analytics coupled with an effective search engine marketing program,” says Mark Dirks, Beacon’s President.

Here are excerpts from the June 2007 story that was published in the Triad Business Journal entitled, “Beacon expands, nears rare deal with Google.”

One of the busiest Web design and software development firms in the Triad, Beacon Technologies, has expanded into new offices and is negotiating a potentially lucrative partnership with search-engine giant Google Inc. That relationship, if it comes together, would make Beacon one of only a dozen professional services companies in the country certified to support Google Analytics, a service that provides statistics and analysis of Web site usage and advertising effectiveness, according to Mark Dirks, Beacon's president.

Like most of Google's products and services, Google Analytics is available to use for free. But Dirks said there is so much functionality and data to be mined from the tool that many users go to Google asking for support, and Google refers those requests to its partners.

Tom Leung, Google Analytics business product manager, confirmed that Google is considering Beacon as a potential partner, a process that involves satisfying 15 separate qualification and performance reviews.

"When we partner with local firms, they can increase their business significantly," Leung said. "They're independent companies, but if they're associated with Google we really want to make sure the clients get an outstanding experience, so we do a lot of checking."
