NC: Video-based site for SportsVHL
Beacon Technologies has partnered with SportsVHL to develop a new site for sports enthusiasts, athletes and recruiters that will focus solely on sports video highlights.
James McDougald, SportsVHL’s CEO, points out that “SportsVHL will be a website created to enable amateur athletes of all ages and athletic skills from all parts of the world to showcase their talents through video clips to family, friends, and relatives. It will also provide a medium for college and professional bound athletes to market themselves by providing video clips and biographical information to college recruiters and professional scouts. SportsVHL is not just limited to the major sports, we expect it to also serve as a forum for sports activity groups such as cheerleaders, dance teams and marching bands to showcase their talents.”
“With the improvements in technology, video is obviously becoming more and more prominent on the web,” says Mark Dirks, Beacon’s President and CTO for this venture. “Yes, we’ve seen what YouTube, MaxPreps and other video-based sites have achieved and we believe SportsVHL will be a viable player in that market space. We are focusing only on sports and using our design and usability expertise to create a site that is easy-to-use, but is also provides immediate value to the general public, athletes and recruiters that will be using it.”
