NC: CMS Upgrades Implemented
Beacon Technologies announces that it has completed a major upgrade to its CMS product…ahead of schedule! While it is the same content management product from the same vendor, it has been renamed from Publish XML to Cascade Server, and it contains many valuable enhancements. The user interface has been vastly enriched, offering more flexibility and a more user-friendly feel. “Upgrading software on the surface, seems pretty straight forward. However, we have many clients that use the content management software on a regular basis to maintain their web sites,” says Cherryl Gilmore, Senior Project Manager. “So we had to carefully coordinate and communicate the upgrade." After evaluating the changes, Beacon applied & tested the technical upgrade, revised the user manuals according, communicated the specific changes to it clients and scheduled training sessions.
Beacon allowed all its CMS users the opportunity to work with this new product in a TEST environment, prior to the upgrade by copying each website into a separate work area without impacting the production sites. A free group review session was provided on July 10th to go over the upgrade in more detail.
