Beacon Launches RaceFanFurniture.com

September 2005

After providing successful integrated ecommerce solutions for its customers for the past 7 years, Beacon has ventured on its own into the ecommerce world with the launch of RaceFanFurniture.com. The pilot site was launched late in 2004 and experienced steady growth. As a result of the successful pilot, Beacon has established solid relationships with several vendors to provide its product line. In addition, the site was re-designed to support a much larger product catalog, capitalizing on its usability expertise to provide an easy shopping experience for its online customers. “We wanted to practice what we preach,” says Mark Dirks, Beacon’s President. “We know the nuts-and-bolts of ecommerce and our solution has produced millions of dollars for our customers over the years. We have been looking for the right opportunity for a couple of years now, and we believe we have found the right niche to develop yet another nice revenue stream into Beacon.”

RaceFanFurniture.com primarily sells official NASCAR products and although the focus is on NASCAR furniture and other merchandise, customers can also purchase corvette and other auto racing items. The web site sells NASCAR sofas and recliners with the official NASCAR logos as well as select drivers like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, and Tony Stewart. In addition, shoppers can buy NASCAR products such as pillows, apparel for men, women and children, hats, tables, tray-tables, blankets, hoods, rugs, lamps, home furnishings, kids games & toys, grill covers, travel bags and folding chairs. “We are only promoting quality NASCAR products and emphasizing customer service,” says Jay Young, RaceFanFurniture’s Manager. “We know how to drive the right traffic to the site. We have a great product line and an easy-to-use shopping experience. But, customer service is still the key, just as it is for brick-and-mortar stores.”

RaceFanFurniture.com integrates Beacon’s BeCommerce 3.0 software, its self-managed hosting services through Time Warner Telecom’s multi-million dollar hosting facility in Greensboro, NC, and its highly sought search engine marketing services. “During the holiday season, it is extremely important to online customers that you have the product in stock. So we have done a good job of slowly building up a substantial inventory in preparation for the upcoming holiday buying frenzy,” says Young. “We expect to be very busy from mid-October through the end of the year!”
