Beacon Selects Content Management Software Partners
Over the last couple of years, Content Management Systems (“CMS”) have become much easier to use, are priced more affordably, and provide a strong long-term technical platform for continuous growth. There are literally hundreds of different CMS products on the market and over the last year, Beacon has researched many, in terms of technical strength, usability, and support. “Our customers have been asking for CMS for some time. They want an affordable, easy-to-use solution that is portable, assessable, and performs well. At the same time, as an IT company, we require CMS that supports search engine marketing, integrates well with database-driven web applications, and meets our usability best practices (including 508 compliance)”, says Mark Dirks, Beacon’s President.
Consequently, Beacon has selected two CMS solutions: Globalscape’s CMS Product, PublishXML, and Ektron’s CMS400.NET. Globalscape is a respected publicly traded company that is also widely known for its CuteFTP products. Ektron is also a respected, fast-growing company that has been applauded by Forrester Research for its .NET based content management and document management products. Both are very similar in price, but each have some unique features that may make one suit a companies requirements better than the other.
