National High Five Day: April 17, 2014

Est. Reading Time: 2 minutes

Do you have any idea what tomorrow is?

Here at Beacon, we like being in the know about special events, holidays and all-around fun activities. Because of this, we are very excited to take part in tomorrow’s National High Five Day! So I encourage each of you reading this post, as you pass a co-worker in the hallway, see your spouse or pass a stranger on the street…give a firm high-five, a way-too-cool for school “double high five” or the I’m-too-cool-to-touch-your-hand “air five.” Are you deathly afraid of human contact, a shut-in or work from home? No problem! Simply use your right and left hands and give yourself a high five for participation! Heck, even look in the mirror and give that reflective glass a good smack for a more traditional experience.

No matter your pleasure, please make sure to let your co-workers, friends, family and strangers know how truly cool they are and how cool you are with participation in this awesome day. No occasion is too trivial. Did you nail that sales meeting?…HIGH FIVE! Exceed your client’s expectations on a lengthy project?…HIGH FIVE! Design a great new responsive homepage?… HIGH FIVE! Bring a snack pack in your lunch?…HIGH FIVE!!! However, do make sure you do not get too ‘out of hand’ and be respectful of personal space or too sharing in your communicable diseases.

Not Sure What A High Five Is?

High Five: The high five is a celebratory hand gesture that occurs when two people simultaneously raise one hand each, about head-high, and push, slide, or slap the flat of their palm against the flat palm of the other person. The gesture is often preceded verbally by a phrase like “Give me five”, “High five” or maybe even a “Hey, Slap Hands!”.

Here is a “handy” video to show you the ropes…

Also, high fives can save lives!

Keep your palms ready and have fun out there!
