Three Great Web Development Trends for 2013 and Beyond

Est. Reading Time: 1 minute

There are many great trends currently out there for web design. These are just a few examples that can really make your site stand out and have a great usability for any device. These three in particular work great together.

  1. Responsive Layouts: Allows a design to flow from desktop to mobile devices with once single site. It’s all put together with the use of CSS media queries so each device can see a different view of the site that best fits its view for the best usability.
  2. Sticky Headers: This is a nice and simple touch so your navigation is always available instead of going to the top or bottom of the site and saving time if needing to use the navigation frequently. It’s again done with CSS and “position: fixed”
  3. Retina Images: With many mobile devices and now many desktops now supporting super high resolution screens, our graphics should also work in line with them. This gives the audience the best possible experience for those devices. Using the jQuery library and the “retina.js” plugin it makes it even easier to do so. It doesn’t handle CSS background images, but still handles a lot of the work or regular images. More information can be found about the plugin, here.
