Beacon’s CEO, Mark Dirks, was elected to the NC Technology Association’s Board of Directors last Thursday, prior to NCTA’s Annual 21 Awards.  The Board is composed of 41 Directors representing technology firms located in NC, which includes Duke Energy, Google, Lenovo, Red Hat, Inmar, IBM, CommScope, Cisco Systems, tw telecom, Microsoft, Time Warner Cable and many other prominent companies.  The Board is chaired by Allen West (Railinc) with Brad Phillips (Time Warner Cable) as the Chair Elect.

“Mark and Beacon have been strong partners with NCTA for years, as we rely on them to ensure a high quality digital presence for the Association,” said Brooks Raiford, NCTA’s CEO.  “It’s important to have locally headquartered companies represented on the Board of Directors, and Mark will help strengthen our presence and growth potential in the Triad.”

NCTA LOGOThe North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) is the statewide membership association for the tech sector.  NCTA helps its members grow regionally and compete globally by actively connecting business decision makers, educating government officials on issues relevant to the technology industry and providing valuable educational and executive networking events.  NCTA has been a trusted resource for two decades with the ability to influence locally and impact globally.

Since 2008, Beacon has served as NCTA’s web development, web hosting and digital marketing partner.  Beacon is also an Annual Investor and Event Sponsor for NCTA’s Emerging Technology & Trends Series, a breakfast format which explores a specific topic around technology’s impact on North Carolina’s economy and workforce, and features a panel discussion between solutions providers (moderating) and tech consumers.  These events take place throughout the year in Charlotte, the Triad and RTP.

“It’s hard to believe that I’ve spent 30 years now in the world of information technology, with RJR Industries, AT&T and now Beacon,” says Mr. Dirks.  “NCTA has grown dramatically over the last few years and is truly focused on supporting and growing technology across North Carolina.  It’s a great opportunity for me to become more engaged and involved at the state level.”
