Beacon is really proud to announce the launch of its new website and blog. “It’s been an 8 month project because just about everyone at Beacon provided input and wanted it to be perfect,” says Mark Dirks, Beacon’s CEO. “In addition, we took the proverbial shoemaker’s kids approach – as we worked it around all the client projects we’ve had on our plate this year, but we did it the right way.”
The new, custom-designed website continues to use Cascade Server CMS (as did the previous website), but utilizes responsive design to automatically adapt to different devices (desktops, mobile phones, tablets). “With the tremendous increase in mobile users over the last year and the continuous introduction of new devices, most all new websites are being designed to be responsive,” says Dirks. “We see a very consistent trend across all of our Google Analytics accounts that mobile unfriendly sites have significantly lower conversion rates and higher bounce rates for mobile/tablet visitors. It’s lost opportunity that compounds itself with the massive increase in mobile traffic.”
Front and center with the new website is Beacon’s focus on “web solutions” rather than the stovepipe components of web development, digital marketing and web hosting. Beacon’s new emphasis on SMAARTTM Web Solutions highlights that all successful web solutions consist of varying levels of Strategy, Marketing, Analytics, Architecture, Resources and Technology. “Beacon is not simply a web development company. It’s a web solutions company that designs, engineers, hosts and markets full-service, custom websites for each of our clients,” explains Dirks. “It’s important for our clients to have one partner they can trust to put all the pieces together to take full advantage of the web.”
The new website has a variety of cool features that further showcases Beacon’s depth and breadth of technical and digital marketing capabilities. The home page “image slider” emphasizes Beacon’s long-time commitment to the higher education vertical, providing web solutions to colleges and universities across the country for nearly 15 years now (and recently, the University of the Virgin Islands). Client highlights dynamically appear throughout the website based on the particular content pages a visitor is viewing. The “Why Beacon” section is specifically organized to let prospective customers quickly learn about Beacon while also providing access to real-world case studies and testimonials from customers regarding Beacon’s capabilities. “As a services-based company, we understand that prospective clients place a great deal of importance on our people, culture, processes and history when deciding on a web solution partner. We’ve developed quite a client portfolio and internal culture over the years that we are very proud of. The new site purposely shines light on this,” adds Dirks.
The Beacon Blog uses WordPress and, of course, it is carefully interwoven into the main website. It was redesigned primarily to better present the wealth of information that is being posted from Beacon’s staff. Not only is the blog a place where Beacon shares its news and culture, but it has grown into a trusted source of information for the web design, development, hosting and digital marketing communities since it feeds Beacon’s social media channels.
Websites are always evolving. In fact, the Beacon Team has been working on several cool new features that will be coming out very soon. In the meantime, enjoy the new Beacon website from your desktop, phone or tablet.
