With the recent hiring and office expansion, Beacon has been busy reorganizing the office and doing some house cleaning. As part of this effort our Technical Support Group gathered over 60 pieces of hardware that are no longer needed or in need of repair and gave them to a great charity here in Greensboro, HandyCapable Network. HandyCapable Network is a non-profit dedicated to providing developmentally disabled adults with meaningful work in a nurturing facility. They do this by training our “HandyTechs” to refurbish donated computers that they place with low-income families and other non-profits. You can learn how to support HandyCapable and their work by dropping by their website or watching the video below.
The team was proud to send a packed panel van full of hardware to HandyCapable. This hardware was not only saved from being dumped in a local landfill – it will be refurbished by the team of folks at HandyCapable and reused within the community. HandyCapable represents another local charity that Beacon has thrown its support behind this year. Other charities include: Kid’s Path, United Way of Greater Greensboro, Greensboro Beautiful, and Second Harvest Food Bank. If you have local charities you’d like to suggest for Beacon’s next community project, please let us know. In the meantime, stay tuned for more sightings of Beacon in the community.
