Instant Messaging in the Workplace

What started out as a fairly basic request from one of my clients (“Could you send me some whitepapers about the use of instant messaging in the workplace?”) became a laborious quest to separate the loud cries to “Click here for FREE Instant Messaging” and “Make $$$, work from home with IM” from the actual authoritative research on the subject.
